When we're on a health and fitness journey, sometimes going out and being social can be a little daunting or we end up feeling guilty after eating or drinking a lot. So here are my top 3 tips to maneuver around social situations and to ditch the guilt..
1. Be organised
Think about what to expect, like the challenges and temptations you want to avoid. From there think about what healthy swaps you can do.
For example, if you're going out to dinner, suss out the menu before hand. Or if you're drinking, opt for a lower calorie option. The reason I'm talking about calories with alcohol is because it's got no nutrients so ideally we would want to avoid alcohol but I know that isn't always going to happen.
2. Think about why you do what you do
What are the habits you want to change in social situations? Ask yourself Why do i do those behaviours?
For example, do you overeat when you're out at a restaurant ? Is it because you don't want to waste money. Or do you hover around the food table and snack all night at parties? Could it be that youre looking for excitement. Whatever it is, have a think about what you're really looking for.
3. Be flexible
You're out with friends having fun. Yes have a plan but also have fun.
If you splurge a little it's all good. Don't beat yourself up about it. You're making memories.
If you have any extra tips and tricks that you use, comment them below. I'd love to hear your input :)
